Thank You and Improvements
Thank you for supporting the growth of Eigen Values and the addition of a new multi-media section.
First, I would like to thank all my subscribers for your continued support. The comments and feedback on my weekly articles give me impetus to keep writing. Even though my primary motivation for this publication is to provide a public service to expose the fraud, lies and hypocrisy at the heart of the Net Zero project, I would like to extend an even bigger thank you to my paid subscribers who add an extra incentive to put in even more effort. This effort has paid off because in recent months the growth of Eigen Values has gone up a gear.
One of the top-tips from Substack when launching a successful publication is to maintain a regular beat of new articles. This week we hit an unbroken streak of 63 weeks of new pieces which apparently puts Eigen Values in the top 4% of publications.
The rate of growth in new subscribers has gone up about 7-fold from 31 new subscribers in December last year to 224 last month. We are now closing in on 2,500 subscribers, see Figure 1.
This has also led to a big increase in views of Eigen Values content from about 10,800 views in December last year to 31,700 views last month, see Figure 2. This growth is also mirrored in statistics I receive from Google Analytics.
I attribute the growth to several factors:
The regular beat of publishing keeps the audience interested and the network effect of reading and sharing eventually reaches a kind of critical mass where growth begets more growth.
An increasing scepticism in the mainstream and “alternative” media about Net Zero. As many of you may know, the Daily Sceptic republishes quite a lot of my articles and I have noticed that more journalists at the Telegraph and Spectator are writing more and more articles that challenge the status quo.
Growing awareness among the general public that they have not been told the whole truth about Net Zero and dismay that all these “cheap” renewables seem to be increasing their bills.
I have been invited on to news segments on TNT and on to podcasts such as The Sceptic, so they may well be drawing an additional audience, who like to consume their content on audio or video.
Now I must think about how I accommodate the new subscribers and reach new audiences to keep the growth going. One of the recommendations from the Substack platform is to go “multi-media” and launch a podcast. Most of you will know that I experimented with this a few weeks ago. This has had some success and has started to attract new followers on some platforms.
After some soul-searching I had to decide what Eigen Values is. I concluded that the publication is primarily text and graphics based, with some podcast and other audio-visual material attached. The best way of achieving this balance is to start a new “section” on Substack which will contain the new multi-media content. I envisage this will include audio versions of the main articles plus clips of the media appearances I make. These podcasts are then automatically syndicated to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and so on, increasing the reach of the platform.
The advantage of a new section is that it means subscribers can choose whether they subscribe to only the main section, the multi-media section, or both. By default, all existing subscribers on the existing main section will not be subscribed to the new Eigen Values Multi-Media section. This means you will not receive an additional, separate email containing the podcast shortly after the regular email with the main article. However, the multi-media content will be visible to you on the section heading on the home page. If you wish to subscribe to the new section, you can do this by clicking on your avatar on the top right of the screen and navigating to “Manage subscription.” In the “Notifications” box you can click on the buttons to select which section you wish to receive emails from.
I hope this makes sense. In short, existing subscribers will see no change to what they receive on a regular basis but can choose to view the multi-media content on the website or decide to subscribe to multi-media content as well as, or instead of, the main newsletter. If you have any feedback on this approach, then please leave a comment below.
Hopefully, this change will be an improvement that will create a platform for even more growth of Eigen Values.
Thank you for your continued support. Please share this article with your family, friends and colleagues and sign up to receive more content.
Very positive developments with your substack. Hope it continues to go from strength to strength with the media addition. Your site is a valuable resource.
Your articles are of course being even more widely syndicated. I've seen them at NALOPKT and thence at WUWT which brings them to international attention. They are also being linked and cited by commenters at sites with a much broader range of topic coverage such as Guido Fawkes and at least the less left wing parts of the national press.
I think the great value is that instead of being just another channel of political rants that assume the reader understands the underlying facts, you take the trouble to analyse the official data and the economic and physical realities and the inadequacies of the people behind the policies, and work brick by brick. That provides a secure foundation for people coming to their senses slowly, and one by one, as Charles Mackay observed.
The mainstream media no longer employs the sort of specialised journalists that it used to who had strong backgrounds in their subjects. A few have tried to remedy this by reading avidly but it's very hard to do without the background. Reading your work can be a big help to them, but achieving an MSM breakthrough under your own byline allows you to negotiate the priority subjects with editors. Incidentally, someone pointed out that the BBC have been fairly restrained in their reporting of the CFD auction: perhaps they know that they don't know, and will be exposed, thanks to the complaints they got from us recently.
Another important plank is striking right at the heart of the complex by providing well reasoned responses to consultations and calls for evidence from Select Committees, DESNZ, OFGEM, NESO etc. Drawing attention of sympathetic MPs to such efforts is also useful: this requires establishing contact in ways that go beyond email. Securing an invitation to talk to an APPG really helps, and so do any senior contacts that can be cultivated in the quangos. OFGEM is not a happy workplace.
